my father-in-law has, on and off, dealt in real estate(money up the wazoo).

he's planning to buy a house here in Winnipeg, MB (he's in Victoria, BC), and let us move in.
we'd pay it off over time, and thus own it.

there's enough cash coming in for us to do this easily, but where we ran into trouble was the downpayment. now, that's a non-issue.
and the payments will be easy for us to handle. so, within the next couple years, Mr & Mrs Peeker will have their own house.
3 bedrooms ( 1 for bed, one for my toys/PC, one for Kate's "toys"/PC).

AND it gets better...

he'll make a bank deposit of whatever the downpayment is and let it gather interest till we pay the house off.
at that point, he GIVES us whatever that money is up to. [img]eek.gif[/img]

we'll likely stay in the same area, more or less, as I plan to be at my current job till I retire/die.

we're thinking of maybe looking for a place that has an extra suite attached, so I can move Ma Peeker in, but she'd have her own place.
we'd have to soundproof a bit if we do that, though. [img]wink.gif[/img]
